I started thinking about what happens to me when I enter a craft, yarn or fabric store. I am normally gripping a handful of coupons as I walk down every aisle. Here’s the question… why must I walk down every aisle?? The quick answer is that I am a Jane of a lot of crafts. What does that mean? I knit, crochet, design cards, sew, make soap and want to learn how to weave, make jewelry, etc. Many different crafts interest me and sometimes I find myself trying to do them all!!
Am I the only one?? I have drawers of organic yarn, boxes of recycled paper, a shelf dedicated to fabric, a table full of soap that is curing and a brain full of new ideas. But can we master all of the crafts we want to try?
Listening to others, I often find that they specialize in one or two crafts and allow their other interests to be secondary. I always want to learn something new, but more importantly, I want to perfect the talents that I enjoy the most. So with knitting needles in hand, I grab my favorite organic yarn and have fun creating.
How about you? Are you a Jack or Jane of all crafts, some crafts or only one?
Happy Crafting! …Loretta

Sounds like me:) I still have a paper marbeling kit I want to try in the closet:)
Sounds like fun!
Oh, you are definitely NOT the only one.
There are a lot of things I want to try to craft, especially when I shop around on Etsy and see what there is, or go to my local supply store! I walk down every isle too!
That is so true, I have been guilty of trying to do it all in the past. I’m trying just to focus on just a few things now.
I totally understand! While I do not have time to be proficient in a lot of crafts (but I wish I did!), I feel like a specialize in several.
I’m near an expert-seamstress, pretty good in quilting and embroidery, and decent at crochet, scrapbooking, painting by numbers . . . is that a craft?
Painting by numbers is in the craft store so it qualifies! Enjoy!
This is definitely me! I think I’ve exhausted the handwork, do OK with quilting, love to work with dried flowers and love beading. But I have always wanted to make soap from scratch. And herbal lotions. Mosaic tile . . .
I admire mosaic tile; keep us updated.
No, you are not the only one. I love to sew, knit, paper craft, and now take photos. I have done other crafts in the past that I gave up on because they didn’t sell. I also want to learn how to tat, make stickers and glass magnets, and do embossing. I have a very small crafting place so if I can’t sell it once I have enjoyed making it I have to give it away or throw it away.
